The organic garden needs care, so it is important that you devote enough time to this area. Organic gardening is possible with some great tips. This will see you cultivating healthier and better tasting results from your organic garden. Use this advice to have your organic garden become the best around.

Prepare the ground for a perennial garden quickly and easily. You just need to use your garden spade for slicing underneath the turf, then flip it, and finally spread about three or four inch deep piles of wood chips. After a few weeks, you may then utilize the area to plant your flowers.

When working in the garden, try to work as efficiently as possible. It’s frustrating to search for a tool for a half hour. Prepare all the tools you need before you go out to work on your garden, and put them away nicely when you are done. A good way to keep your tools at hand is to buy a tool belt or utility pants with many large pockets.

It never hurts to keep a few bags around the house to protect your floors from dirty gardening shoes. You will be able to go in and out without having to keep taking your shoes on and off.

Try to avoid letting your organic garden chores build up. Even if you’re to busy to focus on your garden’s needs each day, you could do small things that could prevent you from piling up work when you wish to work on your garden. Take the time to do a little weeding or something else that needs to be done each time you have to be outside keeping an eye on your dog, which for some can be several times a day.

Want to get rid of weeds naturally? You can easily control weeds by using layered sheets of newspaper. Weeds need sun for growth, just like any other plant. When you cover weeds with newspaper layers, they suffocate due to lack of light. You can use newspapers because of how nicely they break down, they can be added into compost. You can add mulch on top for aesthetic reasons.

Seeds Require

When planting seeds in containers, plant the seed roughly three times deeper than the seed’s size. There are exceptions, however. Some types of seeds require more direct sunlight than others, and as such they should not be fully covered. Two common examples of this type of seed are ageratum and petunias. If you don’t know whether your seeds require sun exposure, check the seed package or search online for the information.

It is a great idea to help your garden by ruffling seedlings, either with cardboard or with your own hands, a couple of times each day. That may sound like a silly thing to do, but it’s been proven to help plants grow larger than they would otherwise.

Create raised beds with stone, brick or untreated wood. Choose wood that is naturally resistant to rot and is untreated. Cypress, locust and cedar are all very good choices. Treated wood can leach chemicals into any soil it rests against, so don’t use it in a garden with vegetables. If you have used treated lumber, line your beds with plastic.

Organic Garden

Having an organic garden means that you can enjoy fresh, healthy fruits and vegetables whenever you want. An organic garden is a ton of work to make successful but well worth the effort.
