Preparing for pregnancy is a time of a joy. As your body adjusts to the new life, you will undergo many changes. Learning these tips for how to take care of yourself and deal with the issues that may arise will help the process go as smoothly as possible.
Are you pregnant and having a child soon? Do you plan on breastfeeding? Do you want to be able to breastfeed in public? Buy nursing clothes and do both! There are places that sell outfits you can use to hide breastfeeding in public. Nobody will be able to tell that you are feeding. During pregnancy, good dental care is important and so is visiting the dentist. Pregnancy can cause trouble for mouths, and this includes gum disease. Make sure that you continue to brush your teeth twice a day and use dental floss along with mouthwash. Talk to your dentist immediately about any issues.

Write a plan for how your birth should go. The plan should include tasks for friends or relatives to take care of while you’re in the hospital. An overnight bag with insurance, camera, birth plan and pre-registration forms needs to be prepared.
Towards the end of the second trimester of your pregnancy, try massaging your belly. Lay with a couple pillows behind you so that you don’t lay flat on a bed or couch. Use light pressure and maybe oil, but never lotion when massaging your belly. Be mindful of your breathing, and listen to music that relaxes you. This helps to soothe your baby and to keep you relaxed as well.

Don’t sit for long stretches of time. Like many expectant moms, your feet and ankles may swell in the evenings. This is caused by the strain pregnancy puts on the body’s circulation. Extended sitting, such as in a car or at your desk, can aggravate the swelling. You want to lie right on the left side of your body, then make sure with cold water you soak your feet, just be sure to avoid crossing your legs while you sit.
